De’Longhi Magnifica Plus: the sweet spot for variety, strength and one-touch milk drinks

The Magnifica Plus ECAM32070SB is a fully automatic espresso machine for people who want a broad drink menu and an automatic milk system without stepping up to De’Longhi’s most expensive machines. It offers 18 one-touch recipes, LatteCrema Hot, a colour touchscreen, a built-in grinder and extensive drink customization.

18 one-touch recipes
Espresso, coffee, Americano, cappuccino, latte drinks, iced coffee and more.
LatteCrema Hot
Automatic milk frothing with adjustable foam for dairy and many plant-based alternatives.
Strong, customizable coffee
5 intensity levels, adjustable drink volume and 13 grinder settings.
Easy daily use
Colour touchscreen, removable brew group and dishwasher-safe removable components.

Is the Magnifica Plus right for you?

Choose Magnifica Plus if: you want a large menu of automatic hot drinks, an easy milk carafe, strong coffee and excellent value around the mid-premium automatic-machine range.

Choose Rivelia instead if: regularly switching between two different beans or decaf is a priority, or you specifically want the optional LatteCrema Cool system in a narrower machine.

Choose Dinamica Plus instead if: you prefer its interface/features or want to step into a different De’Longhi automatic platform. For most shoppers, Magnifica Plus is the more straightforward value choice when the priorities are drink variety, milk drinks and coffee strength.

Questions our customers ask before buying

Is the Magnifica Plus a good choice if I like strong coffee?
Yes. Magnifica Plus offers five intensity levels, adjustable drink volume and a larger brewing dose than compact models such as Rivelia. If a drink tastes weak, start with a higher intensity and less water before changing the grinder.
Can I use oat or almond milk?
Yes. LatteCrema can work with plant-based milks. For the most consistent foam, use milk cold from the refrigerator; “barista” versions of oat or almond milk generally foam more reliably than some standard formulations.
What grinder setting should I use?
There is no single perfect number because beans and roast level matter. Start near the middle of the range and adjust one step at a time while the grinder is running. Go finer if extraction is too fast or weak; go coarser if coffee struggles to flow or tastes overly bitter.
What maintenance products should I have?
The essentials are De’Longhi EcoDecalk descaler and the compatible water filter if you use filtration. Regularly rinse the removable brew group and clean the milk carafe. The machine will prompt you when descaling is required.
Does the machine tell me when to clean the brew group?
Do not rely on a specific brew-group-cleaning warning. The brew group is removable and should be rinsed regularly as preventive maintenance. Frequent users benefit from checking it weekly.

Magnifica Plus FAQ

Built around questions Café Liégeois receives from shoppers and owners of De’Longhi automatic machines.

1. Magnifica Plus vs Rivelia: what is the main difference?
Magnifica Plus focuses on a broad drink menu, strong coffee and an automatic hot-milk system. Rivelia is narrower and its signature advantage is Bean Switch with two interchangeable bean hoppers plus the option to add LatteCrema Cool.
2. Magnifica Plus vs Dinamica Plus?
Both are capable fully automatic machines with LatteCrema. Magnifica Plus is particularly compelling for shoppers who want 18 one-touch recipes and strong value, while Dinamica Plus belongs to a different De’Longhi platform with its own interface and feature set. Choose based on the specific drinks and controls you prefer rather than assuming the more expensive model automatically makes better espresso.
3. Can it make iced coffee?
Yes. Iced Coffee is part of the Magnifica Plus recipe menu. It does not use De’Longhi’s dedicated low-pressure Cold Extraction Technology found on models designed for true quick Cold Brew.
4. Can I make two coffees at once?
The machine supports two-cup preparation for compatible coffee recipes. Milk drinks are prepared individually.
5. Can the milk carafe stay in the refrigerator?
Yes. The removable LatteCrema carafe is designed to be removed and refrigerated between uses. Run the cleaning function after milk drinks and perform regular deeper cleaning of the carafe components.
6. Why is my milk foam getting worse?
The most common causes are milk that is too warm, residue in the carafe lid/tube or a change in milk formulation. Thoroughly clean the milk circuit and try cold milk before assuming the machine has a fault.
7. Can I use pre-ground coffee?
Yes, for occasional single preparations. Select the pre-ground function and follow the quantity instructions in the machine manual rather than adding several scoops.
8. How often should I descale it?
There is no universal calendar interval. Descaling depends on water hardness and usage. Set the correct hardness level and follow the machine’s prompt using compatible descaler.
9. Should I use very oily dark-roast beans?
Fresh medium to medium-dark espresso beans are generally easiest on an automatic grinder. Extremely oily beans can leave more residue in the grinder and chute and may require more frequent cleaning.
10. What should I do if coffee suddenly flows very slowly?
If the grinder was adjusted very fine, move it one step coarser while it is grinding. Also clean the brew group and coffee outlets. Make only one grinder change at a time and evaluate after several drinks.
11. Is it difficult for a first-time automatic-machine owner?
No. The touchscreen guides drink selection and most day-to-day operations. The main habits to learn are keeping the milk carafe clean, rinsing the removable brew group and adjusting the grinder gradually if needed.
12. What should I buy for maintenance?
EcoDecalk descaler and compatible water filters are the key consumables. You do not need a large collection of chemicals for normal day-to-day cleaning.
13. My new machine will not pull water during first setup. What should I check?
First confirm the tank is filled and fully seated, the hot-water outlet is installed if the setup asks for it, and follow the priming prompts exactly. If the pump repeatedly fails to draw water, stop repeated dry attempts and contact De’Longhi support or Café Liégeois rather than improvising invasive fixes.
14. Are milk drinks very hot?
Milk drinks are intentionally served below boiling so the milk keeps a pleasant texture and flavour. Preheating the cup, selecting the highest compatible coffee temperature and using the milk cold as directed can improve the final drinking temperature. If you prefer extremely hot café drinks, that preference is worth considering before purchase.
15. Can I use pre-ground decaf while keeping regular beans in the hopper?
Yes. That is one of the most useful reasons to use the pre-ground chute: leave regular beans in the hopper and prepare an occasional decaf as a single pre-ground drink.
16. Why does changing the grinder not change the coffee immediately?
The effect is not always obvious on the very next cup because some coffee remains in the grinder/brewing path. Make only one small adjustment while the grinder is operating, then evaluate several drinks before changing it again.
17. Can I make a very large coffee without making it weak?
There is a trade-off between beverage volume and extraction strength. For a large mug with more intensity, it is often better to use a stronger recipe, Extra Shot where available, or two brewing cycles rather than pushing excessive water through one dose.
18. Does the machine remember my customized drink settings?
Drink parameters can be personalized and saved according to the machine’s customization workflow. If several people want very different settings, note that Magnifica Plus is less profile-focused than higher-end De’Longhi models with dedicated user profiles.
19. How noisy is it?
You will hear the grinder, pump and automatic rinse cycles. That is normal for a bean-to-cup machine. It is not silent, but the noisy phases are brief. A sudden new grinding, rattling or squealing sound is different and should be investigated.
20. How much day-to-day cleaning is realistic?
Empty the drip tray/grounds container as prompted, run the milk CLEAN cycle after milk drinks, rinse removable parts regularly and check the brew group about weekly for frequent use. Descaling is much less frequent and is prompted according to water hardness and usage.
