De’Longhi TrueBrew: fresh-ground automatic drip coffee, from one cup to a carafe
TrueBrew CAM51025MB is best understood as an automatic bean-to-cup drip coffee maker—not an espresso machine. It grinds whole beans, automatically doses and brews them, and lets you choose different cup sizes and brew styles without pods or paper filters.
Built-in burr grinder
Whole beans are ground automatically for each brew using De’Longhi Bean Extract Technology.
6 brew sizes
Designed for a single cup, mug, travel format or larger batch depending on the selected size.
5 brew styles
Light, Gold, Bold, Espresso-Style and Over Ice.
No pods or paper filters
Automatic grinding and brewing from whole beans with used grounds collected internally.
Who should choose TrueBrew?
Choose TrueBrew if: you love drip coffee but dislike measuring beans, grinding separately, handling filters and manually changing recipes for different cup sizes. Its advantage is convenience: whole beans go in the hopper and the machine handles grind, dose and brew.
Do not choose TrueBrew expecting espresso-machine drinks. “Espresso-Style” is a concentrated drip-style recipe; it is not traditional high-pressure espresso. There is no steam wand or automatic milk system.
If your priority is maximum filter-coffee control and consistency rather than one-touch bean-to-cup convenience, a dedicated brewer such as a Fellow Aiden or Moccamaster may be the better category for you.
Questions that have come directly from TrueBrew owners
I mostly drink iced coffee. Is TrueBrew the right machine?
TrueBrew has a dedicated Over Ice brew style designed to produce coffee for serving over ice. It is a good fit if you like iced drip coffee. It does not make cold milk foam or true low-pressure Cold Brew, so shoppers looking for iced lattes or café-style cold milk drinks should look at a De’Longhi automatic espresso machine with LatteCrema Cool instead.
Why does my coffee taste acidic even after changing beans?
Start with the brew style and beans. A darker roast and/or Bold setting can reduce the perception of acidity for many drinkers. Also make sure the machine is clean and that the beans are fresh. Because TrueBrew controls grind and dose automatically, it offers less manual extraction adjustment than a dedicated grinder + brewer setup.
Should the same selected size always give roughly the same amount?
Yes. Small variation from retained water/grounds can occur, but a repeated significant change in output on the same size and brew style is not something to simply ignore. Run the recommended cleaning cycle and, if the inconsistency persists, contact De’Longhi support or Café Liégeois for troubleshooting.
Does Over Ice mean the coffee comes out cold?
No. Over Ice changes the brew profile to suit coffee that will be poured over ice. The beverage is still brewed coffee; add the appropriate amount of ice in the cup. It is different from De’Longhi’s dedicated Cold Extraction Technology used for true quick Cold Brew on other models.
The 5 brew styles
Light
A gentler cup.
Gold
Balanced everyday brewing.
Bold
More pronounced strength and body.
Espresso-Style
A smaller concentrated coffee—not traditional pressure-brewed espresso.
Over Ice
A brew profile intended for serving over ice.

TrueBrew FAQ
1. Is TrueBrew an espresso machine?
No. It is an automatic drip coffee maker with a built-in grinder. Its Espresso-Style setting is a concentrated coffee recipe, not traditional high-pressure espresso.
2. Does it need paper filters?
No. TrueBrew is designed to brew from whole beans without disposable paper filters or plastic pods.
3. Can I use pre-ground coffee?
TrueBrew is principally designed around whole beans and its integrated grinder/Bean Extract workflow. If pre-ground flexibility is essential, choose a brewer designed specifically for that workflow rather than buying TrueBrew for this purpose.
4. Can it make a full carafe?
Yes. The selectable brew sizes are intended to cover individual cups through larger servings, including batch/carafe-style brewing depending on the selected size.
5. Can it make café-style iced lattes?
Not by itself. It has Over Ice coffee, but no milk frother. For automatic iced lattes/cappuccinos, choose a De’Longhi machine with LatteCrema Cool.
6. How is the used coffee handled?
Used grounds are collected internally rather than staying in a disposable filter. Follow the machine’s emptying and Auto-Clean routines to prevent buildup.
7. Can I schedule coffee for the morning?
Yes. TrueBrew has a built-in clock and Auto-On functionality for scheduled brewing/setup.
8. What beans work best if I dislike acidity?
Try a medium-dark or dark roast with chocolate/nut profiles and experiment with the Bold style. Bean freshness and roast have a major impact because the machine intentionally automates most grind/dose decisions.
9. TrueBrew or Fellow Aiden / Moccamaster?
TrueBrew wins on bean-to-cup convenience: built-in grinder, automatic dosing and multiple serving sizes. Dedicated premium brewers appeal more to users who prioritize manual brew control, repeatability and experimenting with grind/water recipes.
10. Is Over Ice the same as Cold Brew?
No. Over Ice changes the hot-brew profile so the coffee holds up when served over ice. It is not De’Longhi’s low-pressure Cold Extraction Technology.
11. Can I manually change the grinder setting?
TrueBrew is designed around automatic grind and dose decisions rather than espresso-style grinder dialing. That simplicity is part of the product: choose brew style and size instead of manually tuning every extraction.
12. Why does the coffee still taste weak after I choose Bold?
Try a fresher or darker roast and a smaller serving size. A large drink naturally dilutes coffee more than a small cup, and TrueBrew gives you less manual dose/grind control than a separate grinder and brewer.
13. Why does the same size sometimes look slightly different in the cup?
Minor variation can come from retained water, grounds and bean characteristics. Large repeated differences on the same size/style are not normal; clean the machine and contact support if the inconsistency continues.
14. How often should I use Auto-Clean?
Follow the machine’s prompts and keep the grounds path/container clean rather than waiting for flavour or flow problems. The automatic cleaning system reduces mess but does not eliminate regular emptying and rinsing.
15. Are very oily dark-roast beans a good idea?
Very oily beans can leave more residue in the hopper/grinder path. If you prefer dark roast, choose beans that are not excessively glossy and keep the machine’s grounds/grinder path clean.
16. What is the difference between Light, Gold and Bold?
They are different brewing profiles intended to change the cup’s strength/body and extraction character. Gold is the balanced everyday setting; Light is gentler; Bold is the more assertive option.
17. Does Espresso-Style contain real espresso?
It is a smaller, more concentrated coffee made by the TrueBrew system, not a 9-bar-style espresso extraction from a traditional espresso machine. Expect a concentrated drip-style profile rather than café espresso crema/body.
18. What needs to be ready for scheduled morning coffee?
Make sure there are enough beans and water, the grounds container/drip area has capacity, and the correct cup or carafe is positioned before the scheduled brew. Auto-On cannot physically place a cup for you.
