Discovering the Saint-Jude Tonus space - Café Liégeois

A few weeks ago, we discussed a bit about Salon 1861, as well as the old St-Joseph church, which was transformed into collective work and meeting space. We must believe that this transformation phenomenon of religious buildings is a Montreal speciality given the project put in place by the Tonus space of Saint-Jude. Focused on the architectural reconversion, where our delicious Café Liégeois coffee can be found.

Le Saint Jude - Montréal

The meeting of styles

It was daring to turn a church on the plateau Mont-Royal into a gym and urban spa! This interesting idea from the three owners of this space whom, a few months ago, won their bet to develop a peaceful haven in the heart of the Plateau. The architect and professor at the University of Montréal, Tom Balaban, drew Saint-Jude’s plans. The churches brick walls and stained glass windows are alongside the modern concrete and steel structure. A true mix of styles between old and new.

Le Saint Jude à Montréal

Zen environment and relaxing place suitable for coffee

The space offers a natural tranquility conducive to silence and rest. At the lounge, the members of Saint-Jude can enjoy the free Café Liégeois products in calm. A service and top quality machine reveal the best flavours of the Café Liégeois grains. Nothing like enjoying a Liégeois moment in a Zen atmosphere that indirectly recalls the context of introspection in which the faithful were immersed in this small space. It’s a net and marking contrast to the hectic pace of life in the Montreal area and the Saint-Denis Street.
